Educational Skills Learning Opportunities for young people

ESLO (Educational Skills Learning Opportunities) an LMETB funded Local Training Initiative based in Boomerang Youth Centre, Fair Street, Drogheda are recruiting for their upcoming programme starting September 2020.

The programme aims to support young people to re-engage with learning in a supportive and encouraging environment. The programme not only develops education and employment skills but works closely with the learner on their personal growth and journey.

Each learner will be supported in gaining skills in their chosen career, along with gaining experience in the following areas:

  • Communication Skills - Verbal and Written
  • Confidence Building
  • Resilience - identifying issues and finding solutions
  • An understanding of their own skills and abilities
  • Teamwork - Working together and on own initiative
  • Planning and Organising - designing and implementing elements of work
  • Leadership - taking responsibility and assisting their peers
  • Commitment - Understanding their role and commitment to work
  • CV preparation, form filling and preparing for interviews
  • Internal and External work placement opportunities
  • Assistance in setting up interviews, job search supports

The programme is offering a choice of two QQI Level 4 Awards aimed at young people aged 16-25 years and is delivered over 10 months.

QQI Level 4 General Learning

The General Learning course provides Vocational Training opportunities, learning supports and project-based learning to raise the skill levels of unemployed young people, developing their capacity to progress to further Education, Training, and Employment

QQI Level 4 Catering Support

The Carnegie Catering course provides learners who have a passion for food and cooking, the skills to either progress to full time employment in the Catering and Hospitality Industry or onto further education. Learners will also get the opportunity to gain a food safety training certificate. The Programme will allow learners to develop their catering skills in a holistic and supportive environment.
