The Duleek and District News/Irish Cement People of the Year Awards took place last Saturday, November 23, in the Glenside Hotel.
The winner of the under 18 Sports Person of the Year Award was Craig Moore, a promising young footballer who has already donned an Ireland jersey and currently plays with Dundalk.
Sports Person of the Year was Gavin Cromwell, trainer of Cheltenham star Espoir D’allen who won eight of his nine starts over hurdles including the Unibet Champion Hurdle before he tragically died in a freak accident in August.
Best Community Group winner was Donore’s St. Mary’s GFC who recently celebrated 50 years.

Best New Business winner was Redwood Design, a joinery and cabinet-making company now based in Duleek Business Park.
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Michael Ferguson, a writer, actor and founding member of Duleek Drama Players with a long career on-stage and behind the scenes.
