Dry weather puts paid to steam train runs

The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland have confirmed that the Boyne Steam Train Runs planned for Sunday July 22nd will not now go ahead.

This is due to the possibility of the emissions from the steam engines starting fires along the route with the tinder dry grass and hedges.

This will come as a big disappointment to the many people who were looking forward to the trips from Drogheda to Dundalk and Skerries.

These trips are very popular and almost always sell out all 640 each year.

It is hoped to run the train later this year, possibly in September.

No tickets were issued from Drogheda Tourist Office.
