The Drogheda Motor Dealers are getting ready to celebrate 10 years of the Drogheda Motor Show - with a virtual chat show live streamed from the Droichead Arts Centre on Saturday 25th July. Photographed here are some of the participating motor dealers along with Ronan Holcroft, First Citizen Finance and Robert Murray, President of Drogheda & District Chamber.
In 2010, a group of motor dealers in Drogheda came together to display their cars in one location for the benefit of the car buyer. Ten years later, the award winning show is still going strong and was to take place again on Laurence Street later this month to celebrate the 10 year anniversary.
However, with the arrival of COVID-19 in March, the organisers had to rethink their plans for this year’s event and they’ve come up with a surprise alternative – a live chat show streamed direct from the Droichead Arts Centre on the evening of Saturday, 25th July.
This virtual event will take place over 2 hours, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, and will be hosted by LMFM’s Gerry Kelly. For the duration of this free online event, viewers can join Gerry and his special guests from the comfort of their couch for some exceptional local entertainment and chat.
“We had really exciting plans for what would have been our second year on Laurence Street but safety comes first and we’ll plan for a big return to the centre of town in 2021. In the meantime, our virtual chat show is going to be a wonderful celebration of the past 10 years.” explained Alan Reynolds, Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat.

“We’ve got a really varied and exciting line-up of guests for the show and it’s been so much fun planning it. Get ready Drogheda for an evening to remember!” he added.
As soon as the news had broken in March about the coronavirus, the motor dealers were immediately looking for ways to help those affected locally. Could they provide cars to the front line workers or make deliveries to those in need?
Eventually, they decided to choose two local front line organisations, impacted heavily by COVID-19 to support. These two organisations are Malta Services Drogheda and Down Syndrome Ireland (Louth / Meath Branch).
Over the coming few weeks the local motor dealers are asking the public to get behind a campaign to help them raise some needed funds to assist these two worthy services. Anyone wishing to make a donation can visit www.BrandNewDrive.ie and click on the donate button. All funds raised will be divided up equally to support these two vital support services at a time of uncertainty.
There are 11 local franchised motor dealers taking part in this year’s special celebrations, comprising of 17 marques. These are Brian Reynolds Mazda & Fiat, Colm Quinn BMW & MINI, Jack Doran Motors (Kia & Citroen), Smiths of Drogheda (Ford), Windsor Drogheda Peugeot, Conachy’s Garage (Seat), Western Motors Drogheda (Volkswagen & Skoda), Malones Toyota Drogheda, Drogheda Car Sales (Hyundai & Suzuki), Blackstone Motors (Renault & Dacia) and McCabe Car Sales (Mitsubishi). The supporters of the virtual 10th Birthday Bash are First Citizen Finance, the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI), Drogheda & District Chamber and Louth County Council.
