Well known Drogheda LGBTQ advocate Peter Nugent is through to the final stages of the Northern Ireland GNI Magazine Awards, the only person from the Republic to be so honoured.
Speaking to Drogheda Life today, Peter said he was delighted to receive confirmation that he is a finalist in the GNI Awards in the "Personal Contribution to the Community" category.
GNI is a Belfast based lifestyle magazine for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Peter said he was thrilled just to be nominated but making it through to the final was way beyond his expectations, especially as he is the only person from Republic of Ireland to do so.

“It is my honour to be a voice for people in my community to provide safe space for LGBTQI in the community, and continue to do so in the future.
Peter is asking the people of Drogheda to get behind his campaign and vote for him. “Vote, support local” he said.

Peter is asking for your support in his bid to become the only person in the South to become a GNI Award winner.
Voting closes at 12 noon on Tuesday 4th April and the awards night takes place in Belfast’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday 15th April for which over 500 people have already confirmed they are going to attend.
The organisers say that the awards night is going to be an amazing night acknowledging so many Businesses and people who work tirelessly to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people.
