Jasmine Carroll won the overall student of the year award. She completed a QQI Level 5 certificate in Art, Craft and Design Group B.
Jasmine came to DIFE as a high achieving Leaving Cert graduate who received 625 points in her Leaving Cert. She had the option to choose any course that she wanted to do but chose to do a PLC course.
She considered this PLC course a very solid option for her. It can be an affordable option for many to explore course possibilities and whether they are the right fit for that learner.
Jasmine felt it was the right decision for her. Jasmine presented herself in a very professional and enthusiastic manner and put huge effort into her course. She proved herself to be an excellent candidate for 3rd Level, Jasmine wants to become an Art Educator and is presently studying in the NCAD.
We wish her every success in the next exciting chapter of her education and no doubt she will excel in NCAD. She is a true ambassador for DIFE and has nothing but good things to say of her experience as a learner which she expressed very eloquently in an interview on LMFM for the Open Day. She represented DIFE in the LMETB Robert Ballagh Art Competition and secured 1st place in the Further Education Category.
The Kiara Duncan Perpetual Trophy was presented to Amy Flanagan, Beauty Therapy Level 6, presented by Cllr Sharon Tolan. This trophy is dedicated to Kiara, a former Beauty Therapy student in DIFE, who died tragically in a road traffic accident in Australia in 2007.
Following Kiara’s passing, the Beauty Department created The Kiara Duncan Memorial Trophy in her memory and every year since it has been presented to the student who has shown outstanding commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to embrace all the opportunities presented to them. Amy Flanagan certainly is a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
The O' Reilly Thomas Bursary Award, was presented to pre-university with Law and Criminology student Award Chloe Kenna (above) presented by local solicitor Joe Thomas.
DIFE Principal Davy McDonnell congratulated all the students present on their achievements and wished them and the DIFE students in the class of 2022 every success in their future endeavours.
Drogheda Institute of Further Education thanked Drogheda Credit Union for their generous sponsorship of this event. DIFE would also like to thank Pauline Sheeran and her committee for organizing such a memorable event.
