Mean Machines - Bikes of all shapes and sizes parked up at An Grianan during the Drogheda Cycling Group's last family friendy outing.
National Bike Week takes place from 12th to 18th of September and the Drogheda Cycling Group, which is campaigning for more facilities to make cycling safer in Drogheda is holding two events to mark the occasion.
The first of these events is a family friendly cycle to From Dominic’s Bridge along the ramparts and boardwalk to Oldbridge Estate on Sunday Sept 12th starting at 11.30 am.
Then, on Thursday September 16th, there’s an adults only evening cycle around the streets of Drogheda.
The Group, which is gaining new members with each outing, has received a donation of hi-vis gear from the Road Safety Authority and will be distributing it free of charge to participants of these events.

Drogheda Cycling Chairman Noel Hogan said:
“As the dark evenings draw in it’s more important than ever that cyclists are safe on Drogheda’s roads. We will be distributing our hi visibility equipment to participants at these events on a first come, first served basis until all hi vis vests are given out.
“The Drogheda Cycling Group have stepped up to the plate and are doing our part to make cycling a safe and sensible alternative to car use in Ireland’s biggest town.
“We are looking forward to the development of the Active Travel cycle routes in and around the town over the next few months.”
