Youth Connect Fest, a showcase of activities available to children and young people in Drogheda, returns to the Laurence’s Shopping Centre from 2pm until 5pm on Saturday January 25th, 2025.

Organised by the SICAP (Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme) Network of Youth Services in Drogheda, the Youth Connect Fest aims to connect young people with the huge range of activities, clubs, services, supports and opportunities available to them in Drogheda.

Sports, dance, art, music, scouting and other activities will be showcased with raffle prizes, entertainment and a fashion show. The first 300 attendees will receive a ‘swag bag’ with many stands also offering giveaways at the event.

Speaking at the launch Catrina Culligan, Coordinator of Boomerang Youth Café and a member of the organising committee, said:

“There is so much happening in Drogheda for young people but we need to work collectively to showcase and promote what the town has to offer. The purpose of the event is to connect young people and their families to the services, the clubs and the spaces that are here for them.

“Youth Connect Fest was such a success last year that we just had to bring it back and build on those connections. This work doesn’t end with one off events. We need to keep highlighting how young people’s lives are enriched by having places to belong, a wide community of supports, with lots of fun, interesting, things to do.”

Feedback from the clubs and organisations who took part in last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive and was summed up by one of the clubs who commented:

It was so positive and engaging. Everyone was so welcoming, supportive, and helpful. It was a great event to be part of, showcasing all that is great about the town and how many wonderful organisations and people that we have supporting each other. We as a club were very proud to be represented at such a positive event.
