Deputy Ged Nash.
Labour TD Ged Nash has called on the Department of Education to ‘get a move on’ with progressing planning applications for both the extension to the temporary buildings at the Drogheda Educate Together Secondary School on the Mill Road and the planned permanent school facility on the site.
“Senior Meath County Council officials have confirmed to me that the development of the new permanent school building is not contingent or dependent on the delivery of a new road in the area which is required to support plans by Shannon Homes to develop new residential schemes in the area” Nash said.
“This will come as a relief to local parents and students.
“My message to the Department of Education is crystal clear. There are no obstacles in the way in terms of the fast-tracking of the new school building.

“Meath County Council is ready and waiting to facilitate pre-planning meetings and to get the ball rolling on both the extension to the temporary facilities and the permanent building.
“This school can be built with speed and delivered in 18 months in the context of the Department’s Design and Build scheme if the will and commitment is there.
“The Department must proceed with the project with the urgency it deserves.”
