Say what you like about Frank Godfrey, and many people do, but nobody can deny that he has a strong and abiding love for Drogheda.

No, he wasn’t elected to the Council last month but that doesn’t stop him from campaigning for the betterment of the town.

Appalled by the neglect of the town’s heritage buildings over the years, the former Mayor of Drogheda has held many a public campaign to, as he would say it, “stop the rot”.

He and some of his followers have formed an organisation called The Defenders of Drogheda Heritage Community Group and they are holding a public meeting in the Marcy Hotel (formerly the Westcourt) on Tuesday July 16th at 7.30 pm.

“It’s all about having your say on the future of Drogheda and the present state of the heritage of the town” said Frank.

“Guest speakers will be John McCullen of the Old Drogheda Society, Aisling Durkan who is a lecturer in Georgian buildings, and local historian Michael Holohan.”

The meeting will be chaired by, you guessed it, Frank Godfrey. All are welcome on the night.
