First time candidate James Byrne (FF) who was eliminated on the seventh count pictured at the count with his wife Emíle and children Laurena (7) and Cathal (6 months).
Drogheda Fianna Fail candidate James Byrne has just been eliminated on the seventh count. He polled a total of 4,355 for his first outing into national politics.
Peter Fitzpatrick has continued his surge having received 630 transfers from Audrey Fergus (SPBP) consolidating his pole position for third place with 8,201 votes currently.
Green candidate Mark Dearey also did well with 995 of the Fergus transfers and is second place with 7.765 votes.
Ged Nash is in third on 7,545 having added another 355 votes courtesy of Audrey Fergus.

Next in line is Fergus O’Dowd on 6,980 having received just 44 transfers inthis round.
Fianna Fail’s Declan Breathnach is slipping further back and is now looking likely to lose his seat with 6,178 votes at the moment but he can be expected to transfer well from Byrne.
Bringing up the rear at the moment is another FG debutante John McGahon on 4,642votes.
