Local photography student Conor O’Dowd has won the People’s Choice Award in the international ‘My Perspective’ competition organised by the Down’s Syndrome Association.
Last month Conor’s entry, a photo of his best friend Jason Mc Givern from Monasterboice, was chosen as one of the 25 shortlisted images for the competition from entries from around the world and today it was announced that it had won the People’s Choice award.
Earlier today the actor Peter Davison, the former star of “Dr Who” and “All Creatures Great and Small”, who is a patron of the Down’s Syndrome Association, announced the winners of the Judges’ Choice and Peoples’ Choice awards virtually.
Needless to say, Conor was over the moon and he expressed his thanks to all the people in Drogheda and County Louth and Meath who voted for him. Here was his reaction:

Conor was also thrilled to win with his portrait of his long-time best friend Jason Mc Givern from Monasterboice (see below).
Conor gets his love of people photography with ongoing training and mentoring from local photographer Jimmy Weldon and is studying photography in DIFE.
Jason is happy in front of the camera as he loves fashion and would like to be a model.
Conor was also delighted that the announcement was made by a former Dr Who and All Creatures Great and Small actor Peter Davison.
