Councillor Kevin Callan has called on Louth County Council to carry out immediate repairs to the road surface beside the bus depot.

Donore Road is one of the main access routes into Drogheda and will surely be very busy during the Fleadh but at the moment there are cones in the middle of the road at the junction where there are three lanes of traffic which Callan says are presenting a risk.

“This is one of Drogheda’s busiest junctions and you also have buses turning in and out of the depot so the priority must be to get this done as soon as possible” Cllr. Callan said.

Callan told Louth County Council that if it is not repaired the section affected will get steadily worse.

“From the point of view of motorists heading both up the Donore Road and down the road the cones are not easily seen until the vehicle is beside them when there’s a lot of traffic.

“Pedestrians are also crossing at this point we definitely don’t need an accident with vehicles swerving to avoid the sectioned off area.”
