The Deputy Mayor of Drogheda, Councillor Kevin Callan, has said that abandoned vehicles across Drogheda must be identified and removed from residential streets and estates.

“This issue is very real for people living in an area where a vehicle is parked up, has no tax or insurance and is allowed to deteriorate with oil leaks and flat tyres” he said.

“It has an impact on the appearance of locations where residents make efforts to improve their homes” he added.

“I have been working with residents in recent weeks in identifying a number of vehicles and have started making arrangements for cars and vans to be removed by the authorities.

“Many are linked to rented properties and some have been left even after the tenants have moved from the properties.”

“I would encourage anyone who knows of such a suspected abandoned vehicle to get in touch with me directly at Kevin.callan@louthcoco.ie”.
