Drogheda FF local election candidate James Byrne.
The recently declared Fianna Fáil Local Election Candidate in Drogheda, James Byrne, has called on the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan to provide additional permanent Garda resources for Drogheda.
In a statement issued to Drogheda Llife today BYrne said he is calling on the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan to provide additional resources to the Drogheda Garda District in light of the recent drug-related feuds in the town that are still striking fear in the community.
“It was very reassuring to see the obvious Garda presence in the town over the Christmas period - whether it was checkpoints on the main roads or patrolling on foot across our town centre" he said.
“I would like to congratulate local Garda management for the superb job they have done. However, many of the additional Gardai drafted were brought in on a temporary basis and have since departed for other districts.
