The Drogheda Implementation Board are organising an event for education providers in the wider Drogheda area on Thursday next, the 19th May 2022 at 9.30am in the Barbican Centre, Drogheda.

The event will showcase supports and services available to schools and young people in recognising and dealing with drug use, in addition to other community services.

Principals, Deputy Principals, Guidance Counsellors and other school staff who provide pastoral care are invited to attend the event which will consist of:

  • Presentations from An Gardaí Síochána and HSE Substance Use Support for Teens;
  • A workshop on supports and resources available to schools;
  • Stands from youth, addiction and other support providers in Drogheda.

Refreshments will also be served to attendees.

Schools interested in attending can book a place here and community or other services who wish to host a stand can do so at this link.

For any queries in relation to this event or the work of the Drogheda Implementation Board please contact Gráinne Berrill, Drogheda Implementation Board Coordinator at implementationboard@lmetb.ie.

Drogheda Implementation Board was set up late last year after the publication of the Geiran Report on Community Safety and Wellbeing in Drogheda.

This report was a response to the activities of organised crime in the Drogheda area, often called 'the drug feud'. A feature of this feud was the participation of very young people and the impact of drug (mis)use on young people in our communities.
