Cushinstown AC’s annual indoor competition on Sunday, November 24th, was a thrilling showcase of local and regional athletic talent and Boyne AC turned out in force, delivering standout performances across multiple events and asserting their dominance in a highly competitive field.

The Cushinstown event, with its jam-packed entry list and packed viewing galleries, provided the perfect stage for Boyne AC to reinforce their status as one of the region’s premier clubs with Boyne athletes medalling in nearly every category they entered.

Among the early highlights was a stunning performance by Ryan McMahon in the Boys U17 High Jump, securing second place, with teammate Sam Doyle taking third. This dynamic duo returned to the podium later in the Boys U17 Long Jump, further cementing their strength in field events.

In the Boys U15 Long Jump, Aaron McMahon delivered a powerful performance to take second place, a result matched by his younger brother, Ryan, who sprinted to victory in the Boys U16 60m.

The sprints saw more Boyne AC success, with Aaron adding another silver in the Boys U14 60m, and Cillian Hickey speeding to second place in the Boys U12 category.

Riley Byrne, another rising star from Boyne, stormed to first place in the Boys U14 60m Sprint, displaying incredible speed and composure. In the Girls U16 60m, Hannele Raji dominated the competition, while Aimee Rice secured silver in the Girls U17 60m, rounding off an incredible day for Boyne AC.

While Cushinstown was a local stage, Boyne AC’s ambitions extend far beyond regional success. Just a week later, on December 1st, two of Boyne’s elite athletes, Jack Willis and Seamus Keenan, represented the club at the All-Ireland Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships at Tramore Racecourse. Both athletes, already Leinster medallists, stepped up to face the country’s finest in a gruelling test of endurance.

The conditions at Tramore were brutal. Heavy dew made the ground treacherous, and the churned-up mud tested even the most experienced runners, but Jack and Seamus attacked the challenge with the grit and determination that define Boyne AC. Competing at this elite level, they embodied the club’s values of strength, resilience, and an unrelenting drive to succeed.

Their participation on the national stage, following the club’s triumphs at Cushinstown, signals that Boyne AC is not just a local powerhouse but a club that prepares its athletes for the highest levels of competition. With a growing roster of medalists and rising stars, Boyne AC continues to build a legacy of excellence that inspires athletes across the region.
