Boyne AC Seniors take on Dublin Half Marathon, the last race before the big one!

Boyne AC’s Dublin Marathon team.

Boyne AC’s Dublin Marathon entrants continued their build-up to the big event by competing in the Dublin Half Marathon last Sunday 22nd September in the Pheonix Park. The Dublin Marathon race series never fails to have an amazing atmosphere and great support from the crowds.

First to cross the line for the Club was Robert Fitzgerald with a PB of 1:32:13. Next up were club mates Mark Dowling and Keith Smyth who crossed the line together with a time of 1:34:33, another PB for Keith.
Nicola Veale was the first female to cross the line for the club looking very comfortable with a time of 1:50:32.

Our newest members of Boyne AC Seniors followed finishing strong with some amazing times, Paul Brennan ran a super 1:55:12, Lisa Lambe 2:08.00 and Helen Mc Dermott 2:11:29, All happy to be back in the Pheonix Park for this event.

Training Buddies Jean-Marie Nawn and Deirdre Cadden followed next with Jean-Marie finishing in 2:14.08 and Deirdre 2.17.38. This will be Deirdre’s first Marathon and everyone in the club wishes her well.

Also taking on the 13.1 mile distance was Bala Baskaran finishing in 2:52:05. A big well done to you Bala.
A big thank you also to the members who travelled to the Pheonix park to support their clubmates, it was very much appreciated and all were delighted to see all their friendly faces cheering along the route!

Next stop now is the big event the Irish life Dublin Marathon on Sunday 27th October. With 8 entrants this year, everyone at Boyne AC wishes you all the best of luck in your last few weeks of training and of course for the Marathon itself!

In other news Rebecca Carolan (pictured above) took on her toughest challenge yet, conquering the Seven Sisters Skyline 55k Ultra on Saturday. This beast of a race spans 7 mountain peaks across the rugged Derryveagh Mountains in Donegal, with an epic 4,000m of climb.

Rebecca crossed the finish line in an amazing 11 hours and 16 minutes, securing her spot as the 5th female finisher! What an achievement! You tackled one of the toughest courses with a smile and loved every minute of it!

Well done, Rebecca—we’re all so proud of you! Here's to many more mountains to climb!
