The Mater Hospital Foundation is calling on wannabe Marilyns everywhere to take the trip to Bray, Co. Wicklow for a special fundraising paddle this August Bank Holiday Sunday.

The Foundation has announced the launch of its inaugural ‘Marilyn's Mater Paddle’ with the help of Ambassador Grace Mongey Gernon, lifestyle and beauty influencer.

Keilidh Cashell, make-up artist and creator of KASH Beauty, and Carly Mahady, 'podcast princess', influencer and breast cancer survivor at 25, have also joined the cast as Marilyn’s Mater Paddle Ambassadors for what is set to be the most glamorous event of the summer.

The event is set to take place on the Bray South Promenade Beach on Sunday, 4th August and promises to be the largest gathering of Marilyn lookalikes Ireland has ever seen, with proceeds going to support women’s cancer care at the Mater Public Hospital.

Get ready to channel your inner 1950s Hollywood icon and join people from all over the country in this fun-filled event. Participants will gather on Bray South Promenade Beach, transforming into a stunning sea of Marilyns. Whether you choose to dip your toes in the sea or simply enjoy the event on the beach, Marilyn’s Mater Paddle promises to be a memorable celebration of glamour and fun. Will you ‘boop boop be do’ it for women’s cancer care?

After the paddle and ‘Marilyn Mixer’ post-paddle gathering, stay and enjoy everything Bray has to offer, from the funfair to the holiday atmosphere. Each guy or gal who signs up will receive a fabulous pack including a blonde bombshell wig, retro red heart-shaped glasses and a beach-ball. Don some glamorous red lipstick and a retro swimsuit or 1950s swing dress to complete the look!

Launching Marilyn’s Mater Paddle, Mary Moorhead, Chief Executive of the Mater Hospital Foundation says, “The Marilyn's Mater Paddle not only promises a unique day of glamour and glitz but will also make a real difference to the lives of women who come to the Mater Hospital for cancer treatment. The funds raised will enable us to continue to be there for women diagnosed with cancer, offering hope and support to our patients during their most challenging time.”

Here’s a scene from one of Marilyn’s most popular ever films, “Some Like it Hot.”

Keilidh Cashell, who will be bringing her unique style expertise to Marilyn’s Mater Paddle, says, “Marilyn is the ultimate icon and I’m really looking forward to sharing with all participants how to bring out their inner Hollywood icon and create the ultimate silver star style, all while doing something really important for women’s cancer care!”

This event is open to adults of all ages and genders. Everyone has an inner Marilyn waiting to shine! To register, simply visit www.materfoundation.ie/marilyn and buy your ticket to the event of the season today!
