The co-founder and CEO of the Drogheda based NGO Development Perspectives, Bobby McCormack, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA).
This significant role reflects Bobby’s long-standing dedication to global citizenship education and his leadership in promoting global citizenship and social justice in Ireland and beyond.
With over 20 years of experience in the field, Bobby has been a tireless advocate for creating innovative education programmes that inspire people to act on critical global challenges, such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.
As Chair of IDEA, he will bring his unique perspective, passion, and expertise to the national stage, leading the organisation’s efforts to advance global citizenship education across Ireland.

Bobby’s leadership at Development Perspectives has been instrumental in shaping impactful programmes such as Saolta, the SDG Advocate Training and DPTV, which have engaged thousands of participants in Ireland and internationally. His work has also contributed to building networks and partnerships, strengthening the global citizenship education sector at both local and global levels.
In his new role as Chair of IDEA, Bobby will focus on guiding the organisation’s strategic direction, enhancing collaboration among members, and advocating for greater public and political support for global citizenship education in Ireland.
