“We are delighted with this most prestigious award for our New Make spirit,” said founder and managing director, Patrick Cooney.
“We have set out to combine an age-old craft with modern technology and this is the best validation of the technical facilities of the distillery and our great team.
The Round 1 awards are national results - with the international results due on March 25.

Boann, based on the Platin Road just outside Drogheda, took Gold for its Whistler Bodega Single Malt (12 years and under), and its Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish (Blended Whiskey), also securing a Silver gong for its Single Malt Whistler PX I Love You.
It clinched two Bronze awards for the Whistler Calvados Cask Finished Blend and its Whistler Mosaic (Single Grain).
The Whistler range is exported to more than 25 countries across the world.
“The Whistler once again has shown its world class credentials with these great wins across a number of different whiskey styles,” said Mr Cooney.
“It is testament to the innovation and commitment of our team at Boann as we add these to our stable of over 34 awards for the Whistler brand."
The World Whiskies Awards were blind tasted by an independent panel of industry experts and critics.
