Ace AC's Lorcan Forde Dunne has secured his place on the the Irish under 18 team for the European championships in Slovakia in July and Sholah Lawrence won a national silver medal in in the under 17 800m in Tullamore on Sunday.

Sholah had come through her semi-final in fourth place but left her best for the final, where she led right up to 20m from the line when she was pipped for gold. Sholah will also run in the 1500m Irish final in a few weeks.

Although Sholah was the star of the day winning the only Ace medal, the ever improving Fergus Nolan secured a strong 800m PB in his boys under 17 final.

Chloe Cooney had also reached the national u16 800m final but didn't manage to secure a medal finishing a respectable 10th in the country.  Leinster 1500m champion Chloe will run in the 1500m final at the end of the month.

Shea O'Donnell competed in the u18 800m final and finished in a very good fourth position. Shea was this week named as a non-travelling 1500m substitute for the Irish under18 team for the upcoming European championships in Slovakia in July.

Meanwhile uner17 runner Lorcan Forde Dunne was named in that same Irish 1500m team for Slovakia having secured the vital qualification time six weeks ago but had an anxious wait while athletes from all around Ireland attempted to also secure the time and better it. Lorcan’s place was confirmed last week.
