It’s been yet another successful weekend for Ace Athletics Club, with young athletes competing and performing well at international and local events.
the current Louth Junior athlete of the year, U18 Lorcan Forde Dunne, claimed Gold for Ireland in the 1500m at the EYOF Trials in Wetzlar, Germany on Saturday morning. His win puts him in a strong position to qualify for European Youth Olympic Festival and marks another step forward in his development.
Lorcan qualified for the U18 European Championships last year but was forced to pull out with injury. After a long period on the sidelines, Lorcan’s remarkable run of form has seen him gain two qualifying standard times for the Youth Olympics.
On the home front, the club was well represented at the Louth Community Games held at Lourdes Stadium in Drogheda. Competing in the U8 80m sprint, Finn Murphy, won his event and was crowned Louth Champion. He now qualifies for the National Finals later this summer.

To cap off a good weekend, Jaheim Humphrey was a guest at the Dublin juvenile championships, competing in the discus, which he won with an impressive PB of 42.25.
