A walk through Drogheda's history at the Fleadh

Front Page

Meet at the Tholsel at 7.30 on Wednesday, August 15 for the historical Wlk and Talk.

Following numerous requests from visitors coming to Drogheda for the Fleadh Cheoil, the Old Drogheda Sciety will be hosting a Walk & Talk on Wednesday evening next (August 15th) departing at 7.30 pm from Drogheda Tourist Office.

Led by Liam Reilly, who has been leading historical walking tours for 21 years, the Walk and Talk will give visitors an insight into the huge heritage of Drogheda.

Liam will talk about the many famous characters who have shaped Drogheda's history, some good, some not so good and others just plain evil.

A veritable fountain of knowledge about all things Dogheda, Liam will also reveal lots of interesting but little known facts.

For example, did you know that Oldbridge House, now the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, (just a couple of miles walk along the Boyne ramparts and greenway), very nearly became the ancestral home of an American President?

Or that two American states are named after people with close Drogheda connections?

The walk and talk starts at 7.30 pm and ends at around 9.00 pm at St. Mary's Bridge.
