“Be proud of yourselves and never stop learning because life never stops teaching.” That was the message today for the learners at the Focus Your Future programme who have now graduated after a year of hard work and dedication.

Lifestyle Focus Your Future started out in the year 2000 in Ballsgrove as a programme for young mothers but has gone through many changes in its almost 20 years.

It is a local training initiative of Lifestyle Development Group and Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB).  It is run by the Regional Skills and Training Centre in collaboration with local community organisations to provide flexible training and education for people, primarily aged between 18-35 years, who are looking to get into employment or further training.

The Focus Your Future programme is a QQI accredited Information and Communications Technology Skills Level 4 Major Award.  Modules offered include; Office Skills, Web Design, Communications and Customer Service. The course also includes a work placement.

Today 13 learners graduated from the programme (6 in attendance and 7 in absentia). Speaking after the presentation of certificates, Mairead Meade, Director of Lifestyle Development Group said that they should all be very proud of their achievements over the past year. Also in attendance were board members Mary Donnelly and Nancy O’Mordha.

LMETB was represented by Caroline O’Keane and Patricia Falls.  Caroline O’Keane said it had been a very successful year for the programme with many of the learners progressing on to employment or further training.

“Be proud of yourselves” she said, “never stop learning because life never stops teaching.”

Lifestyle Focus Your Future is currently recruiting for their new Information and Communications Technology programme to begin this August.

This full-time course will run daily from 9:30 to 4:00 over 40 weeks. LMETB training allowances may apply, subject to approval.
