It was a gold rush for Ace athletes last week as they competed for their schools at the North Leinster championships. All roads led to Morton Stadium over the two days as athletes competed in various events, all hoping to qualify for the Leinster championships in a few weeks’ time.
In the Junior boys 800m, Daniel Hanley secured his very first victory for his school St Mary's DS with a personal best time too. His school friend and training partner Tadgh Forde Dunne finished fourth , also with a personal best time.
St Mary's DS enjoyed further success with international atheltes Lorcan Forde Dunne and Shea O Donnell winning their 1500m and 800m races respectively.
Eimear Cooney was a double gold medallist for her school SHS, winning both the 1500m and the 3k. Sholah Lawrence continued the gold streak by winning her inter 800m race in style for Greenhills. Chloe Cooney representing SHS wasn't far behind in second place.

Kate O Donnell is enjoying a fine run of form of late. She secured Leinster qualification when she won a silver medal in the minor girl’s 1100m event for Greehhills. Naiya Semple , representing Drogheda Grammar also won a bronze medal in the minor girls 500m. Danny Nugent who was competing in his final schools competition won a bronze medal in the senior boys 5k for St Joseph's CBS.
Stevie Wong, racing for St. Oliver’s, was a double medallist in both the 100m and 200m. Finally Aoife O Connor secured bronze in the minor girls 75 m hurdles.
