It was a busy weekend for Boyne AC athlertes of all ages. Off to Bush school near Carlingford once again for the young athletes from Boyne AC, as they took part in day 1 of the Athletics Louth Relay Championships recently.
A dry and mild evening made for perfect running conditions, and with 8 Boyne AC teams competing on the night, there was plenty to cheer about.
The boys’ u9 got things underway with some super speedy runs from the quartet of James Geoghan, Joseph McBennett, Will Hallinan and Charlie Cooper, the boys were unlucky to finish just outside the medals in a fine 4th place.
The boys’ u11 team gave it their all over the 100m legs and sailed through their heat to qualify for the final. Stiff competition saw the boys finish in a very tight second place, just a mere fraction behind the winning team, but the silver medal win brought big smiles to the faces of Cillian Hickey, Leyton Byrne, Marko Ozolins and Rhys Mathew.
