A busy week for Boyne AC members in all age groups

Boyne Athletic Club had a remarkable week with outstanding achievements across multiple events and age groups. The club's juvenile road race saw enthusiastic participation and commendable performances from many young club members.

Adding to the club's accolades, a member was crowned the All-Ireland Champion in the national javelin competition. This blend of promising young talent and national-level success highlights a bright future for Boyne AC.

Boyne AC had three athletes running at the National Outdoor Championships in Tullamore. Riley Byrne, who had easily qualified from the Leinsters, competed first in the Under-14 200m and finished 3rd in a very tough heat but was unlucky not to advance to the finals.

Hannele Raji competed in the Under-16 200m, achieving a fantastic 2nd place in her heat. Despite her impressive performance, she was unfortunate not to medal in the final. Lastly, Ryan McMahon participated in the Under-16 200m, setting a new personal best of 24.10. Despite his remarkable effort, he was unlucky not to secure a medal.

On Friday last, a small but mighty team of athletes headed to Carlingford for their annual road race. The beautiful scenery, with the sea and mountains as a magnificent backdrop, made the event very inviting. Hosted by Glenmore, a wonderful evening of races was guaranteed.

Ruby Winters, running out of age in the Under 9s 500m race, had a fine run to take 7th place, with Una McEntee hot on her heels in 8th position. It was a super run from these two young athletes.

Caitlin Hughes was the club’s sole representative in the Girls Under 11 race, and what a tough race it was. She battled through the winding streets of Carlingford to take a well-deserved 3rd place. Her brother Conor also ran in the U11 boys race and performed very well, considering he was out of age.

Making her comeback in the girls U13 race after an injury, Isabelle Winters put in a superb performance and was happy with her 4th place finish. in the U13 Boys race Eoin McEntee stayed with the leading pack and was in the fight to the finish. A fine sprint saw him take silver in the 1200m race.

Ciaran Garvey, running out of age in the Boys U15 race, put in a fantastic effort, achieving a new personal best and finishing in 9th position. Shauna Rice took on the Women's 5km race and came home 6th overall in her category with a fantastic time of 23:23.

 Boyne AC’s “Fit for Life” seniors also had a fantastic evening at the Carlingford Road Race with several achieving personal bests, and everyone enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Sarah Fee ran a remarkable 25:05 in the 5km, with Catherine Troy coming in just ahead at 24:25. Gillian Murray Sullivan finished in 28:39, Gemma Fogarty clocked 27:58, and Gina Garvey achieved a new personal best with a time of 30:40. Catherine Tiernan took on the Athboy 5k and finished with a superb time of 21:54.

On Saturday, Boyne AC’s Euan Canniffe made himself, the club, and his family very proud by winning the Under 23 National Javelin Championship title in Tullamore with an impressive throw of 50.24 meters.

Euan's achievements serve as a shining example to Boyne's younger athletes who look up to him as an inspiring role model for all.

Finally, on Sunday, one of Boyne AC's coaches, Andrew White, delivered an outstanding performance by securing silver in his age category at the Men's 1500m National Masters Championship in Tullamore. Andrew achieved this remarkable feat with an impressive time of 4:59.
