Fianna Fáil General Election candidate in Louth, Alison Comyn, has confirmed the county's Local Sports Partnership will receive €56,250 under a fund designed to support the installation of barrier-free outdoor sport infrastructure for public use in local community settings.
Comyn also welcomed that Meath's Local Sports Partnership has been allocated funding for new volleyball posts on Bettystown Beach.
A total of €2.26 million has been allocated to 30 local sports partnerships across the country under the fund to support the purchase and installation of permanent sport infrastructure that can be placed on public land for community use.
Comyn said: "I am delighted to welcome this latest round of funding that proves Fianna Fáil's commitment in government to bring the benefits of sport and physical activity to all.
"The funding will be used for new 3x3 basketball courts in Ardee, Dundalk and Drogheda, as well as the installation of new volleyball posts on Bettystown Beach.

"Promoting participation in sport in the community is hugely important and I am glad that this fund focuses on the grassroots of our communities to boost our participation levels.
"I am confident that it will complement the tremendous community good that is already delivered under both the Community Sport Facilities Fund and the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund."
