For many it is the cultural highlight of the summer but sadly the 2020 Boyne Music Festival has had to be cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 emergency.

In a statement issued over the weekend, Boyne Music Festival Directors Deirdre Brenner, Aisling Manning and Julie-Anne Manning said that it was with heavy hearts that they announced the cancellation.

“The Boyne Music Festival is for so many of us the highlight of our summer calendars and our plans for this year were particularly exciting” they said.

“However, due to the present uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic we cannot responsibly move forward with those plans and have decided to shift the core of our programme to next summer instead. In 2021, we aim to offer the most attractive festival to date!

“We are enormously grateful for the support of the Arts Council during this challenging period as it has enabled us to pay cancellation fees to our performers. These are tough times for all those working in the arts.

“We look forward to the next time we can gather together at Townley Hall to make music and share friendship.

“In the meantime, we wish you all good health!”

Here are some highlights of last year's festival:
