Drogheda TD Joanna Byrne with the rest of he Sinn Féin parliamentary paty at Dáil Eireann yesterday.

As she signed the register in the Oireachtas, officially taking her seat as TD for Louth yesterday evening, newly elected Sinn Féin TD for Louth Joanna Byrne said she will be standing up for the people of Louth, alongside her colleague Ruairí Ó Murchú TD.

"I want to thank each and every person who voted for me. It is a huge honour and I will not let you down" she said. “I am determined to deliver for people across the constituency and be a voice for ordinary workers and families in the Dáil. I will work tirelessly to fight for you, your family and your community.

“Today, Sinn Féin’s team of TDs met in Leinster House, along with the leadership team President Mary Lou McDonald TD and Vice President First Minister Michelle O’Neill MLA.

“We discussed our plans to deliver the change that people in Louth need. I know that people are really struggling and they want to see change. They want a government of change that will deliver on housing, health, childcare and the cost of living. They want a government for the future that will make Ireland a better place to live and raise a family.
