Hubert Murphy the new General Manager of Drogheda United Football Club.
Drogheda United Football Club have announced that Drogheda Independent Editor Hubert Murphy is to be the new full-time General Manager of the club.
Hubert leaves his long-term role at the Drogheda Independent to take on this new challenge.
Drogheda United Chairman, Conor Hoey, commented: “I was excited when I saw that someone of Hubert’s calibre and experience applied for the role.
“We were looking for someone with great local connections and full of new ideas to take the club to the next level - to find someone who is also a lifetime supporter of the club made Hubert the outstanding candidate for the role.

“Hubert’s job is to transform Drogheda United from being a League of Ireland club into one of the leading community-based sporting organisations in the North East and he has the full support of everyone at the club to make this happen.”
Hubert commented: “This is a dream job for me and too good an opportunity to turn down. I have supported the club all my life, through thick and thin, and I really want to make a difference and take this club to the next level. I can’t wait to get started.”
