Each year, Mosney choose a worthy organisation, charity or voluntary group of their choice to sponsor in the form of roadside billboards and this year they chose the Louth Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB, to highlight the valuable education opportunities available to adult learners.
LMETB was formed in 2013 through the amalgamation of Louth and Meath VECs. It is one of the largest ETBs in the country providing education for 12,000 students at second and Post Leaving Certificate level and 11,000 students annually in Adult and Further Education Programmes, Training Courses and Youthreach Programmes.
The Mosney sponsored billboard campaign, which stretches across prime locations throughout Louth and Meath, aims to highlight the valuable education opportunities available to adults.
The LMETB adult education courses are aimed at all adults who wish to return to education and particularly those who were early school leavers. Courses and programmes provide a second / further chance to engage in training, education and upskilling.

Many adults who may have left school at an early age to enter employment, help look after the home or for other reasons, now find many years later that they need to learn new skills. The array of different subject options available throughout the LMETB Louth and Meath training centres ensures that there is something to suit the needs of all potential participants.
Disciplines include Humanities / General Education, Office Skills, Health and Social Care, Childcare, Business and Administration, Art/Craft and Design Technologies, Applied Sciences, Engineering, Sports and Leisure to name but a few.
The LMETB are the primary providers of adult education to residents at Mosney. The wide variety of courses available to Mosney residents include spoken and written English, Computers and Technology, Cookery Skills, Horticulture, Arts, Crafts and Sewing along with furniture renovation and upcycling.
In the Autumn of 2017, Mosney constructed a new state of the art adult education centre consisting of 6 modern classrooms to compliment the existing series of classrooms. The education quarter at Mosney also includes Mosney Training Kitchen, Mosney Beauty Salon and 42 raised bed allotments. Courses coming on stream throughout 2018 will include Hospitality, Maintenance Skills and Hairdressing. The courses aim to improve adult literacy and also upskill residents to enhance their employment potential.
Returning to learning can be a very rewarding experience. As 2018 commences, what better way to make the first step to an exciting new career or education journey, than to embark on a new adult education course in one of the LMETB centres.
