The cyclists head out into the rain - all part of the fun!
Over 750 cyclists battled the wind and rain last Sunday to take on the final event of this year’s ‘ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series’, the Tour de Boyne Valley.
The event, hosted by the Drogheda Wheelers Cycling Club, was a fantastic challenge for all levels with two route options available on the day, the first 105km and the second 155km. Both routes saw the cyclists pedaling around some of the best cycling roads in Louth and Meath and passing through the famous Boyne Valley. Cyclists headed out the coast road first of all heading north of Drogheda through Termofeckin before heading inland to some shelter.
Participants were well fueled up in advance of the tough cycle as Western Motors ŠKODA dealership in Drogheda held a pre-event Pasta Party on Saturday. Along with a great pre-race meal there was also a dedicated bike mechanic on site to ensure everyone’s bikes were in perfect order.
Speaking about the event, Simon McCormack, Dealer Principal of Western Motors said, “We were delighted to be part of the final event of this year’s ŠKODA Celtic Cycle Series and show cyclists of Ireland the great routes of the North East. Despite the weather I hope all our participants enjoyed the challenge!”
