Mid-Summer Celebrations are happening again in Drogheda in the form of an Artisan Craft and Food Market in the historical Millmount Cultural Quarter.
An even better evening than last year is planned for June 21st from 5.00 to 9.00 pm. with live music, art activities for children and willow weaving demonstrations by Newgrange Willow.
Hosted by the makers in the craft studios in Millmount, the Artisan Market will be outdoors in the Millmount Complex, with the studios themselves also open for visitors. The resident makers are Mel Bradley- Hand Painted Silks, Maureen Finn- Ceramics, Cecilia Casey- Beaded Jewellery, Elaine Hanrahan- Silversmith, Edmund McNulty- Knitwear and Amanda MhicRagnail in Ruby and Rocket Gift shop.
The craft produce outdoors in the market square ranges from framed illustrations by Little Twit Designs, Shells Driftwood, gifts made from found objects on the sea shore, exquisite Leather bags made by Cathy Prendergast, a number of makers from Bridge Street Studios in Dundalk and many more.
There will be artisan food producers from the region including ‘Big Red Kitchen’ with their award winning jams, chutneys and preserves, and Dunany Flour, producers of organic, locally grown and milled wholemeal, spelt and rye flours.
Food will be available to enjoy on site from the likes of Dark Horse Pizza in their converted double horse box complete with pizza oven. Brown Hound Bakery will be present in their mobile form. The beautiful Richmond Fort party venue will be serving hot food and refreshments.
Drogheda Museum will open with a reduced entry fee for the evening and Drogheda Photographic Club will hold an exhibition of members work in their club rooms in Millmount.
Live music for the evening is from Kern, contemporary folk group and a special performance will be given by the Drogheda Youth Brass Band.
All in all it promises to be a lovely evening for all ages, with creativity, food, history, music, face painting and balloons. Admission is free and enjoyment guaranteed.
