The second pride event in Drogheda takes place this weekend with the theme "inclusion in the community."
The activity gets underway at midday on Friday 11th at Millmount with an opening ceremony to get Drogheda Pride Festival up and running.
The opening ceremony will consist of a few words from event manager Peter James Nugent before the official opening by Councillor Joanna Byrne. There’ll also be a poetry reading by Jeffery Neilson.
Once the rainbow flag has been unfurled and is proudly flying above Drogheda at Millmount there will be a family fun day at 1.00 pm. in the Barbican Centre in William Street.
Later on Friday there’ll be entertainment in The Weavers with a live band and a DJ till late.
Saturday gets underway with a Pride breakfast at 10am in Stockwell Artisan Foods and then from midday the action is all outdoors with a Samba band playing on West Street at 12 noon followed by street entertainment.
The main event of the Drogheda Pride Festival takes place in McHugh’s Venue starting at eight and going on until late.
Ringmaster Paul Ryder will host Drogheda Main show with DJ Caroline Gormley and drag queen Sophia Harte and music by Matthew Nolan. Entrance is just €5 at the door.
Sunday 13th is a rest day with the only scheduled event being a “Wind down with Pride” at Odd Mollies featuring a BBQ at 6.00 pm.
