General Manager of the d Hotel, Ciaran O’ Donovan, with MC Lottie Ryan and the then Mayor of Drogheda, Oliver Tully at the launch of the Hotel’s new restaurant, Il Ponte, and bar, The Hops on Friday evening.
On Friday night last, June 9th, the d hotel celebrated the dual launch of their new bar – The Hops and Italian restaurant – Il Ponte by welcoming over 100 invited guests to a party hosted by broadcaster, Lottie Ryan.
Both venues have undergone a total refit and rebrand complete with new bar area, marble finishes and a traditional pizza oven.
This was very much a local celebration with guests being treated on arrival to welcome drinks including Listoke Gin, Slane Irish Whiskey or prosecco.
Once everyone was settled in they were welcomed by broadcaster and MC for the evening, Lottie Ryan as well as hotel manager, Ciaran O’ Donovan before being talked through the first of four tasting courses masterfully paired with the perfect beverages.
These were announced and distributed while guests mingled around The Hops and Il Ponte enjoying the new contemporary surrounds with musical entertainment DJ Alan Kennedy.
The dishes enjoyed were as follows:
Chorizo Sliders topped with crispy bacon, smoked Applewood cheese, sweet red onion relish in a soft brioche bun paired with Dublin Lager.
Linguine alla Scoglio - Fresh mussels, clams, calamari and prawns with cherry tomato in a garlic and white wine sauce paired with Pierre & Remy Gauthier Chardonnay.
A Selection of Il Ponte’s Freshly Made Italian Pizzas paired with Peroni.
Homemade White Chocolate Brulee biscuit & raspberry sorbet paired with refreshing Aperol Spritz
“The d hotel is the epicentre of Drogheda so I’m so delighted to be here celebrating with them this evening” Lottie Ryan enthused.
“The new restaurant, Il Ponte looks incredible and the food I’ve enjoyed this evening has been out of this world! I love how they work with such simple, high quality ingredients and create flavour combinations that I just can’t get enough of. The Hops is going to completely change the landscape of socialising in Drogheda, I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
General Manager, Ciaran O’ Donovan said, “This is a momentous occasion for the hotel and we are so pleased to see so many local business people here at the launch of The Hops and Il Ponte continuing to show their support. Our focus here is now firmly on food and beverage, offering the very best and redefining how we socialise here in Drogheda.”
Host Lottie was in good company on the night with guests from the worlds of food and fashion in attendance. Among them were Illustrator, Conor Merriman; TV presenter, Irene O'Brien and stylist Justine King who each left with a beautiful copper Moscow mule cup complete with bespoke recipe.
