Local Fine Gael TD Fergus O'Dowd has called on his party colleague, the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise and Innovation, Francis Fitzgerald TD, to intervene to save the Drogheda Development Centre in Millmount from closure.
O’Dowd told Drogheda Life that he has outlined the current position of the Drogheda Development Centre to Minister Fitzgerald and asked her to intervene with regard to directly funding the centre before it's closure in September.
"Drogheda needs to strengthen its resources for small business in the town, the fact of the matter is that the Drogheda Development Centre provides a functioning business premises in it's current format” O’Dowd said.
“There's a capacity for up to 25 hot desks in the centre, that's up to 25 local businesses that can create, expand and prosper in our town. With the fantastic success of the Mill Phase 1 and 2 which are running at capacity, there is a huge need for a development centre until such time that a Phase 3 of the Mill is in operation."
