John Malone at the official opening of the new Malones Toyota Showroom with "the real boss", his wife Stella.
The motor trade is like a barometer for the times we live in and, as Bob Dylan so famously sang, the times they are a changing.
In 1924, when Malones Motor dealers first opened their doors in Navan, motor sales establishments were pretty grim places – often housed in dirty barn like structures that smelled of oil and petrol fumes.
Fast forward to today when John and Stella Malone officially opened their state-of-the-art Toyota Showroom and the difference couldn’t be greater.
What was a vacant site a year ago, the first sod was turned in August 2016, has been transformed into gleaming new building with light beaming in through huge windows. No fumes, just that lovely “new car” smell.
Malone’s have been trading in Drogheda since January 2014 and the Dealership guided by Dealer Principal John Malone, is recognized for its excellent customer service for both sales and aftersales.
Malone’s Drogheda commenced operations on January 2nd 2014 and employs 12 people with the expectation of further employment as the business grows and the car sales increase.
The shiny new premises is bound to draw customers in from a wide area and the omens re good for a great return on the investment that has gone in to the new premises.
The Toyota Brand is of course synonymous with reliability – the boast of the famous old radio ad which claims Toyotas as “The best built cars in the world” still stands but today you can add in some fantastic 21st century design and engineering.
One look inside the new showrooms at the entrance to the M1 Retail Park is enough to reassure the customer that this is a class act.
But it’s not all glitz and glamour without any substance. At this evening’s official opening, which was performed by the Chief Executive of Toyota Ireland Steve Tormey, John Malone was very gracious in his thanks to his team and his family, especially his wife Stella, who he referred to as “the real boss”.
He thanked the architects and the builders by their first names which was a very nice touch. Good, old fashioned courtesy and good manners counts for a lot, even in these ultra-fast changing times.
The new showroom is opening just in time for the Drogheda Motor Show which takes place over the weekend so Malones will be celebrating on the double.
They’ve arranged all sorts of activities with special shows for children on Saturday from 2.30 and on Sunday there’s a real treat for motoring buffs – a show of vintage cars – all of them Toyotas. Martin the Magician will also be there to keep the children amused.
All weekend there will also be some extra special deals on all new and used cars such as scrappage of €3,500 or three years free service on new cars and reduced prices and reduced finance on used cars.
